PROCESS
@LIVKRAFT
Please arrive 10 – 15 minutes before your first appointment in order to fill out the required paperwork. When you have completed the intake form and waivers, a LIVKRAFT team member will check you in and walk you back to one of our Float Suites once the room is available and prepared for your treatment. Once you enter the suite feel free to lock the door for privacy (we have constant communication through our integrated intercom system when you are in the FloatPod and the ability to enter the room in case of an emergency). In the room you will find a shower, 2 towels, earplugs and Vaseline. Goggles are available upon request.
Please follow these steps once you have undressed:
- Quickly rinse off with a warm shower. Be sure to dry your feet and use caution walking around the room after your shower.
- Cover any open wounds or cuts with Vaseline as the high concentration of salt can be very uncomfortable.
- Place earplugs in both ears. If you request goggles, put the goggles on prior to entering the FloatPod.
- Enter the FloatPod using caution.
- Take a few minutes to find the most comfortable position for your body. We have floating neck pillows in case of any neck discomfort. Some people experience neck discomfort during their float session if they are unable to fully relax and fail to trust that their head will remain above the water when fully committing to the Float and letting go of all muscular tension.
- We offer the option of experiencing guided meditation for the first 10 minutes of your treatment. If you would like this option as part of your treatment, please let a LIVKRAFT team member know prior to your treatment.
- Through our Intercom system we will let you know when you have 5 minutes remaining in your float and will alert you when the session has completed.
- Be sure NOT TO TOUCH YOUR EYES at any time during the treatment or before you shower after the treatment. THE SALT WILL CAUSE SIGNIFICANT IRRITATION. If salt does get in your eye at any time exit the FloatPod and use the shower to rinse your eyes immediately.
- Once your float session is completed, enjoy a shower, dry off, get dressed and check out at the front desk with a LIVKRAFT team member.
- Enjoy the rest of your day!

How Should I Use the Infrared Saunas and the Best Cold Plunge Therapy in La Jolla at LIVKRAFT together for the Most Benefit?
At LIVKRAFT, the strategic placement of Infrared Saunas and the Best Cold Plunge Therapy in La Jolla within the same room offers an optimal environment for contrast therapy, maximizing the benefits of both treatments. Here’s how to use them together effectively:
1. Start with the Infrared Sauna:
- Duration: Begin by spending 10-15 minutes in the infrared sauna. The gentle heat from the sauna penetrates deep into the body, increasing your core temperature and causing vasodilation (the widening of blood vessels), which promotes increased blood flow and relaxation.
- Benefits: This initial heat exposure helps loosen muscles, encourages sweating to aid in detoxification, and prepares your body for the cold plunge by elevating circulation and enhancing the overall therapeutic effect.
2. Shower Before Entering the Cold Plunge:
- Why It’s Important: It’s essential to take a quick shower before entering the Cold Plunge to remove any sweat, oils, or impurities from your skin. This step helps maintain the cleanliness of the cold plunge and enhances your experience.
3. Transition Immediately to the Best Cold Plunge Therapy in La Jolla:
- Duration: After your sauna session and shower, immediately transition to the Cold Plunge La Jolla and immerse your body for 3-5 minutes. The cold water will constrict your blood vessels (vasoconstriction), which helps reduce inflammation, soothe sore muscles, and flush out metabolic waste.
- Benefits: The cold plunge provides deep tissue recovery, reduces inflammation, and enhances the removal of toxins from your body, further promoting recovery and rejuvenation.
4. Repeat the Cycle:
- Cycles: For maximum benefit, repeat the sauna, shower, and cold plunge cycle 2-3 times. Alternating between heat and cold therapy enhances the circulatory benefits and intensifies the recovery process.
- Considerations: Always listen to your body. If you start to feel too cold or too hot, take a break. The proximity of the sauna and cold plunge at LIVKRAFT makes it easy to move between them quickly, ensuring the most effective contrast therapy experience.
5. Finish with a Relaxation Period:
- Relax: After completing your cycles, allow your body to return to a normal state. Spend some time in a neutral temperature environment or in a comfortable resting area within the room. Light stretching or hydration can further help your body stabilize and recover.
Using the Infrared Saunas and the Best Cold Plunge Therapy in La Jolla together at LIVKRAFT allows you to create a powerful contrast therapy routine. By starting with the sauna to warm and relax your body, showering before the cold plunge, and then transitioning to the cold plunge for deep tissue recovery, you can maximize the benefits of both treatments. This approach enhances circulation, reduces muscle soreness, promotes detoxification, and supports overall wellness.
This method is designed to make the most of LIVKRAFT’s unique setup, allowing for a seamless and highly effective therapy experience.

How does the Best Cold Plunge Therapy in La Jolla differ from Whole Body Cryotherapy La Jolla?
How Whole-Body Cryotherapy Works
Whole-body cryotherapy (WBC) involves exposing the body to extremely cold air, typically between -200°F to -240°F (-130°C to -150°C), for a duration of 3-4 minutes. Here's how it works and when it’s appropriate:
- Vasoconstriction and Endorphin Release: The rapid cooling of the skin causes blood vessels to constrict, redirecting blood flow to the body’s core. This process triggers the release of endorphins, providing a mood boost and reducing pain.
- Systemic Recovery Response: While WBC primarily affects the skin and superficial tissues, it triggers a systemic anti-inflammatory response that can aid in recovery. However, because it doesn’t deeply penetrate muscle tissue, it’s less likely to interfere with the immediate post-workout muscle recovery process.
- Pre-Workout Use: WBC can be used pre-workout to help boost energy and mood without negatively affecting muscle performance.
- Post-Workout Timing: To maximize muscle recovery and growth, it's advisable to wait at least 2 hours after a workout before using WBC. This allows your body to go through the anabolic window, where muscle repair and growth occur most effectively.
How Cold Plunge Therapy Differs
Cold plunge therapy, or cold water immersion, involves submerging the body in cold water, typically between 37°F and 59°F (3°C to 15°C), for 5-10 minutes. Here’s how it differs:
- Deeper Tissue Penetration: Cold plunge therapy penetrates deeper into muscle tissues, providing a more direct cooling effect that significantly reduces muscle soreness and inflammation.
- Post-Workout Timing: Just like with WBC, to avoid interfering with muscle growth, you should wait at least 2 hours after a workout before using cold plunge therapy. This ensures the anabolic window is not disrupted, allowing for optimal muscle repair and growth.
- Post-Workout Recovery: After the 2-hour window, cold plunge therapy is highly effective for reducing muscle soreness, inflammation, and improving overall recovery, preparing your body for the next training session.
Summary
- Whole-Body Cryotherapy (3-4 minutes) can be used pre-workout for energy and mood enhancement, and post-workout, it’s best to wait at least 2 hours before using it to avoid disrupting muscle recovery during the anabolic window.
- Cold Plunge Therapy (5-10 minutes) should also be used post-workout but timed at least 2 hours after exercise to ensure it doesn’t interfere with muscle growth. It’s highly effective for deep tissue recovery and reducing muscle soreness.
